Child Birth Blues was written when I was really upset with some of the conversations I have having with people I know. It talks about a TON of different topics that probably aren't incredibly apparent but the most important ones are these.
1. As we grow up, a countless amount of mentors such as teachers, friends, hero's, and family will try and steer us in the right direction. At some point though, you have to try and take the best parts of everything that you've learned from them and move on as an independent adult. Some of the ways you choose to live your life might conflict with how people may want you to, but doing your best doesn't necessarily mean pleasing everyone.
2. A lot of people might hold you to expectations that they themselves aren't even meeting. Its upsetting, hypocritical, and it happens.
3. Most importantly, as a Christian and human being, I believe that its wrong to close ourselves off from people and communities that we might not be used to, familiar, or comfortable with. If I want people to treat me with respect and love, I strongly believe that I need to respect and love them, no matter their race, faith, or sexual orientation. Everyone is a human, and these factors DO NOT determine whether they are deserving of my respect and love. This is the biggest fault I see people I care about falling into and/or being directly affected by, and it breaks my heart.
